In January 2011 the FCC will begin a phased migration for all wireless users in the 150-174 MHz and 450-470 MHz frequency band to narrow band (12 KHz) operation. In 2011, no new FCC licenses for wide band (25 KHz) operation will be granted and the FCC will prohibit the manufacture or importation of new equipment that operates in the 25 KHz band. On January 1, 2013 the FCC will require all radio licensees to operate only on narrow band channels. If you have a 25 KHz radio license, it will need to be modified before the January 2013 date.
