Emergency Logistics Operation Center from City of Airdrie's ESTeem Network  >>

On August 3, 2010 the City of Airdrie, Canada managed to avoid evacuation after a Canadian Pacific (CP) train carrying ammonia derailed north of the city. Within minutes Paul Hurst, a network administrator and crew installed a back-up ESTeem 195Eg, 2.4GHz Wireless Modem in Fire Chief Sheldon Leavitt's Yukon allowing him to access the city Mobile Network infrastructure and VOIP. Mr. Hurst teamed with Sean Walinga from Secure Group to extend the network; establishing a remote ESTeem Mobile Repeater near the derailment site and another at the Logistics Operations Center (LOC) to provide the CP Train Derailment Crews with network and VOIP telephone access.
